PAYMENTSfn 2020 call for presenters

PAYMENTSfn is in its third year as the go-to conference for practical, hands-on payments professionals. We launched the conference to provide a place where payments pros can get together and share their experiences and learnings around payments and e-commerce. Presentations don’t need to be technical, but the most successful topics tend to dive into specific topics and offer “lessons learned” from people that worked particular payments projects or activities.

Past speakers include payments experts from companies like Patreon, GoFundMe, Glossier, and more!

VENUE:

We’ll be returning to the cinema at the historic Carolina Theatre in downtown Durham, North Carolina.

DETAILS:

Day 1, (Optional) May 13, 2020 will be a half day focused on talks from Spreedly employees and Spreedly customers. This is like a mini user group event, and the half-day we did of it last year got rave reviews.

Day 2, May 14, 2020 is a full day open to speakers presenting on interesting topics related to payments and technology. Presentations last year covered a range of topics — from case studies of their own payments experiences to an exploration of security and fraud in the payments world.

AUDIENCE:

PAYMENTSfn is for payments professionals. We see a mix of product managers, developers, engineers, fraud managers, e-commerce teams, and more. Don’t feel as though you need to address a broad audience. You don’t need to talk code; your talk should be something you think would be interesting to a practitioner of payments.

TOPICS:

Payments is a diverse topic. So, we’d like to represent a diverse array of perspectives. Some topics that are interesting for our attendees are:

  • Case Studies: an exploration of how you addressed a major payments challenge (say, dealing with Black Friday)
  • International Payments: practical lessons for how to expand and grow payments in new markets.
  • Fraud, Risk: how are you reducing chargebacks and bad actors
  • Optimization: what are you doing to optimize success rates for your organization?

PROPOSAL DETAILS:

Talks should be lecture-style, roughly 20-30 minutes in length. We’re going to skip the Q&A in favor of hallway and lunch conversations. Because our audience is merchant-centric, we emphasize presentations from merchants themselves.

Proposals should be submitted through this portal no later than December 15th, 2019. We will do our best to communicate notice of acceptance, waitlist, or denial after January 15th, 2020. We also may find it necessary to reach out to you for clarification. Please respond promptly so that we can keep the pipeline moving.

WHAT YOU GET:

Speakers at PAYMENTSfn 2020 will be entitled to free conference registration, lodging, and a travel stipend, along with payments celebrity status, if just for the day.

POLICIES:

Anti-Harassment & Accessibility Policies

Not a speaker but have an interesting perspective?

We are building some great panel discussions for the event too. We’d love to hear if you have an interesting perspective that might fit into one of our themes.

Submit Your Presentation For Consideration:

Thank you for your interest, the call for presentation is now closed. If you have a topic to submit for consideration, please send us an email.

Thanks! We received your submission. We'll be in touch with more details if we accept your presentation.
